BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription drug that, when injected, temporarily relaxes muscles. It contains a purified and safe form of botulinum toxin A, which is produced by the microbe that causes botulism. Manufactured by Allergan, Inc., it is used to treat furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin that are formed by the continual contraction of facial muscles. In addition to its cosmetic applications, it is used to treat a number of medical problems, including excessive sweating, overactive bladder, neck spasms, crossed eyes, chronic back and jaw pain, and migraines.
Applications
Although originally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of eye and muscle spasms, BOTOX® was quickly recognized for its cosmetic value. Properly placed injections of BOTOX® block nerve impulses sent to muscles, weakening them to the point where they cannot contract, and temporarily eliminating moderate to severe furrows and lines. BOTOX® is used to treat the following:
- Forehead furrows
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Square jaw/Masseter
- Skin bands on the neck
- Neck/Platysmal bands
- Bunny lines on side of nose
- Dimpled chin
Procedure & Results
Using a very fine needle, BOTOX® is injected directly into facial muscles that are causing furrows and lines. Receiving the injections requires no anesthetic, but some doctors choose to numb the area to be injected with ice packs or a topical anesthetic cream. Results can sometimes be seen within a few days of treatment but usually take 2 – 3 weeks to take affect. The results typically last 3 – 6 months, although areas that are treated on a regular basis may retain results longer. Injections should be given only by qualified medical professionals.
JUVÉDERM® Fillers
JUVÉDERM® is a trusted collection of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers designed to restore facial volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, and enhance natural contours without surgery. Each formulation is uniquely created to target specific areas of the face — from lips and cheeks to jawline and smile lines — allowing personalized, natural-looking results tailored to your aesthetic goals. HA is a substance that naturally occurs in the skin and attracts moisture to help create a plumper, healthier appearance.
Results
Most patients achieve their desired results in just a single treatment session, with natural looking improvements to the skin becoming visible immediately. The results are long lasting and may only require yearly touch-up treatments in order to be maintained.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC
A versatile hyaluronic acid dermal filler used to add or restore volume in the lips, soften fine lines, and gently enhance facial contours. Results are natural-looking and immediate, typically lasting around 9–12 months. It contains lidocaine for comfort during injection.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC
Similar to Ultra XC but with a thicker gel, making it suited for moderate to deeper facial wrinkles and folds like nasolabial lines. It can also add volume where more structure is needed. Results generally last up to about 12 months.
JUVÉDERM® Volbella XC
A smoother, softer filler optimized for subtle lip enhancement and reduction of vertical lip lines. It provides gentle lip volume and contour definition without overly plumping. Results typically last up to 12 months.
JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC
Designed to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds — especially around the mouth and nasolabial lines — while preserving natural facial movement and expression. It offers longer-lasting results, often up to about 18 months.
JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC
A firmer hyaluronic acid filler specifically formulated to restore volume in the cheeks and mid-face, improving contour and reducing age-related hollowing. It can also be used for chin enhancement in some cases. Results are typically long-lasting, up to 24 months.
JUVÉDERM® Volux XC
A newer, high-support filler designed to enhance jawline definition and structure. It’s ideal for sculpting and strengthening the lower facial profile. Results can last around 12 months or more, depending on individual factors.
