Bilateral DIEP Breast ReconstructionCase ID: 1287
Front: 60 year old 5 foot 6 inch 175 lb patient diagnosed 3 years prior with right breast cancer treated with lumpectomy and radiation, now with recurrence on the same side. Wears 38C bra, wants double mastectomy and to be same volume both sides.
Left: Left mastectomy specimen 650 gm, flap was 510 gm, later augmented with 130 ml of fat transfer from thighs.
Left: Nipples are reconstructed and colored with tattoo pigmentation.
Oblique Left: The patient also lost weight post op to 150 lbs, with clothing size going from 14 to 8/10.
Right: Right mastectomy weight 503 gm, flap for reconstruction 632 gm.
Right: Note proportionate change of breast(s) to torso size and better aesthetics.
Oblique Right: Post-op pictures are shown 1.5 years after mastectomies. With the challenge of previous radiation treatment to the right breast, implant reconstruction could not have achieved this natural and quality result.
